Password Management

May 18, 2015

Good security practice requires unique and complex passwords for each of your accounts. This can result in dozens of passwords that are hard to keep track of securely. Password management tools can help.

UCSB has arranged a campus volume license for a password manager: Password Wallet from Selznick Scientific Software, LLC. Password Wallet allows you to manage your passwords and store them securely. It includes features to make it easy to use including auto-type and synchronization to the cloud or between multiple devices. The license applies to the Windows and Macintosh versions of the program and may be used for any computer you use in support of the University. The license covers current employees and emeritus faculty.

I encourage everyone who is not using a password manager to try Password Wallet. More information, including instructions for obtaining a copy, can be found at: http://www.security.ucsb.edu/faculty-staff/password-toolkit
